We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

DO NOT INSTALL SERVICE PACK 2 YET! If you install SP2 while still infected your computer has a good chance of not booting.

Hi jonnyrotten, thanks for the quick reply.

I am having trouble downloading service pack 1a. I followed the link you provided, click 'express installation' then 'Windows XP SP1a' then 'Express Install(Recommended)'. Windows Update scans my computer and only offers Windows XP Service Pack 2 as an update.

What am I doing wrong?
