Windows Installer is running everytime an application loads. I posted this problem before but nobody could figure a solution. Does anyone know how to fix windows installer? I have repaired windows XP and reloaded Office, etc. but still see theWindows Installer dialog box with message "loading program" every time I open an application or even open an Internet Explorer window.
Thanks,
Tom

Wow... well i've never heard of a problem like this.

It sounds quite strange, almost as if Windows thinks the program isnt installed, yet it is, and launching the Win-staller to try and load the program....

Definately something in the registry, although the XP repair most likely should have fixed it.

Can you tell us when this started, and what major change you did prior to that?

Also, did you try the system restore? or a backup, if you have one?

To manually install the Windows Installer, follow these steps:

1. Insert Microsoft Office 2000 CD 1 or CD 2 in the CD-ROM drive.

2. Click Start, point to Programs and click Windows Explorer. Browse to the Msi folder on the CD.

3. Double-click Instmsi.exe for Microsoft Windows 95 or later, or Instmsiw.exe for Windows NT version 4.0.

It could be worth using the installer clean up if you remove Office

I choose complete install in Office set up and leave the installation files on then run Office update before using it
