After using a P2P program, Task Manager wouldn't open. I used a System Restore Point to recover, so Task Manager works (for now). IE pop-ups appear when I use Mozilla Firefox; a new one pops up for every page that I load. I scanned my computer with Spybot and Ad-Aware, and found Cool WWW Web Search on Spybot and this P2P-Worm.Alcan on Adaware.
Another problem: Some words on websites turn green and underlined; they're links, and when I hover over them they show some kind of ad related to the word.
Please help me get rid of this. >_< Here's my HijackThis log.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

By re-infection, do you mean the virus will re-install itself even if I manage to get rid of it, or it'll come back if I'm not careful?

Wondering 'cause it won't let me install SP1A. Says something about some key . . .

Let's try this then. :tazz:

*Please go to http://www.howtotell.com (Microsoft website) using Internet Explorer.
*Click on "Windows Validation Assistant"
*Click on the "Validate Now" button.
*Be patient while the ActiveX loads, do not click on any links.
*Read the instructions on this page while it's loading. You will be prompted to install - click YES.
*Enter your product key then click "continue"
*When it says "Validation Complete" please click "Continue to return to your previous activity"
*Copy what it says and paste it here.

It says the Validation Assistant is only available for IE 6. Right now, I'm using Firefox because the last time I opened IE, Adware kept trying to install itself. I'm not sure if it still does that.

You'll need to use IE and follow my instructions. If it tries to install something, that's ok. We can remove it and KEEP it that way once we get going. :tazz:

How do I enable ActiveX?

You can reply to this tomorrow; I won't be checking this 'til tomorrow afternoon.

In IE, go to Tools>Internet Options. In the window that pops up, click on the "security" tab. Then, click on "Custom Level". From there, scroll down until you come to the ActiveX settings, and enable them. Click "ok" to save and exit out of there.
