Is the built-in firewall that comes with XP good enough? I've used Zonealarm but started having problems with it and went back to thje Windows firewall. I also use the free Avast for virus protection.

Howdy:

The Windows firewall monitors traffic one way only.. You would be better served getting Sygate's Free personal firewall and installing it..

Sygate has it well hidden on their site but a little digging will find it.. :tazz:

Isn't Sygate being discontinued since Symantec bought the company?

I did a little more searching and found out it's being discontinued. It'll still work, just no more updates.

No new versions doesn't really bother me at all..

And, if it is anything like PowerQuest and Partition Magic after Symantec bought them out, there will be a Symantec Firewall shortly (Sygate renamed) !!
