Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. USB external drives are generally just "plug and play" with Windows XP. So tell us more about this drive. Was it working before, then just stopped? Do you see the drive with windows explorer? Do you see the drive when you go to start, my computer, right click manage, disk management? Is this an "off the shelf" external hd enclosure or did you assemble the unit, ie put a hd of your choiice in the enclosure of your choice?

If it is not working in one computer, it may not work on another. 50/50 chance! Hard to say without more about the drive.
