A short while ago, while I was listening to music in my headphones, I loaded up xfire and recieved a loud beep. I had a headache for several days, which I attributed to xfire. However, after uninstalling xfire, I found out that the beep has not gone away. After hunting for it, I found that whenever I change the volume in Volume Control (or the slider), windows throws the loud beep at me and even crashes. Can anyone help me fix this?

Re-install the audio drivers, check you do not have onboard sound enabled if there is a third party sound card installed
