Just so we're not overlooking the obvious...have you tried adjusting the settings using the OSD? (On Screen Display) Are there any buttons on the front of the monitor that will bring a menu up on the screen which displays settings that can be adjusted using that button or others on the monitor?

I have the contrast at 100% and brightness at 100%
and it is still a little dark
