HP laserjet 1300n not working

I have an HP laserjet 1300n with HP 1300/1500 drivers installed. After working fine for months suddenly all print jobs in the print queu say "printing-error" and nothing happens. The printer is shared and works fine for another computer on our network. Also it does not work if connected through a usb cord. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers (and tried downloading a driver from the HP website). During installation the shared printer and all of its specs are identified, but the same error still happens. The jobs just sit there with the error indefinitely. Thanks for any ideas, John.
