MP3 player

I have recently bought an MP3 player off ebay, an unknown brand. It is similar to a thumb drive, but requires a AAA battery. All worked great until I attempted to clear the memory in it by using XP's format tool (under "my computer", I right clicked and "format")

Now, when I turn on the player, it says "error-reformat" and shuts down immediately. When it is not turned on, my computer cannot see it. Any suggestions?
