okay. from my understanding...these opterons can be put to use on home computers. They are basically underclocked version of the FX-series of Athlons. I was just asking if there would be any issues if I installed that cpu because of it's main function as a server cpu. I googled what I could on the Opteron line and I came here to ask for help because I couldn't find more information.

As a sidenote:
I don't appreciate blunt comments such as "The opterons are made for servers." or "lol".....I didn't ask for help just to get half-assed comments back to me. Thank you.

its the truth opterons are made for servers. Its not meant for a gaming pc its really pointless and not for gaming. Its meant for businesses or multiplayer servers.

You can use them on home computers if that's what you really want to do, but don't expect them to give you much in the way of ultra-special performance. The clue is in your statement - "underclocked".

Well its a true comment opterons are made for servers and if you are asking computer questions on christmas day do you really expect soemone to go on at length on why opterons arent suitable for home users.

Unless you have a LAN party every other day or have a leased line and want to run a gaming server dont get an opteron.
