I HAVE A PROBLEM WHEN TRYING TO PLAY COD2 ON THE PC.

FIRST OF ALL MY PC MEETS THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PLAY THE GAME.

THE GAME HAS BEEN INSTALLED ON THE COMPUTER BUT WHEN I GO TO START IT IN SINGLE PLAYER MODE IT COMES UP SAYING

"Cannot locate the CD/DVD-ROM".

"Please insert the correct CD/DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application

THEN TO MAKE THINGS WORSE THE DVD DRIVE VIRTUALY DISAPEARS FROM THE PC

WHEN I OPEN UP 'MY COMPUTER' THERE IS A SPACE WHERE THE ICON FOR THE DVD DRIVE SHOULD BE.

IN SYSTEM/HARDWARE/DEVICE MANAGER THE DVD DRIVE HAS ALSO DISAPEARED.

PLEASE HELP, BY THE WAY THE GAME HAS NO PROBLEM PLAYING IN MULTIPLAYER MODE

Thanks for the reply.

It turns out that my graphics card is not up to the job.

I have have just found out that there is more to a graphics card than just video RAM.

My current specs are:-

NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 64MB

Processor Intel Pentium 4 2.00GHz

System RAM 512MB

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)

Free hard disk space 23Gb

I have the same problem...

my system meets all of the min req's to play but fails to recognise the dvd??... even after replace the disk it still fails to twig that the disk in in the dvd...

other dvd's play fine it's just this one??...

I've even turn'd off the AV software just in case as I've had some games with large setup files be stopped be AV...

P4 2.2Ghz
1Gb mem
16x dvd
Geforce 4 ti 4600
200Gb HD
xp pro sp2

Plz help me... it's driving me up the wall trying to work this out??...

I have just changed my graphics card to an AGP Geforce 6200V+ 256MB/DDR.

I know its not top end but I have been assured it is supported and adequate to play the game.

The problem is I still have the same problem.

This is the first time I have bought a game that has been a DVD ROM, I was wondering if I may have a problem with my DVD drive.

As I have said the game will play in multi player mode as you don't need the disk inserted to do this.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

You havent been blacklisted have you? can happen if you play pirate games or try to mount images of games.

Also, it seems from your specs that you may have an older computer. Make sure you actually have a DVD-ROM drive or a DVD-RW (or DVD+RW) drive (also called DVD Writer or Burner drive). Even if you do have one, it may not be fast enough. My dvd type is:- IDE DVD-ROM 16x

What is blacklisting all about?

I haven't downloaded any games, other stuff yes.

Is their a solution to blacklisting?

Well if you havent downloaded or mounted any games on a virtual drive then thats not it, if you use daemon tools downloading the latest version removes all known blacklists. But if you dont do that kind of thing then its not a bother.

Have you checked the drive manufacturers website for a firmware update.

Yeah the dvd error has nothing to do with the video card.

The 6200 is supported by the game so thats not your problem for shure.

It is a DVD Rom/Software problem.

OK this is why we say make your own thread. I helped dangermouse because I could tell he was telling the truth that his game was a legit copy.


If you downloaded this game from the internet I will not help you. That is called pirating and is against the rules of the site. You should of read when you registered.

Thats why i sent him a personal message, He sounded truthful.

If others saw what I typed then I would be helping piraters, if they have a priated copy.
