Hi, I am a PC tutor, however most of my clients call me for lessons AFTER the problems begin. I have a client who uses AOL 9.0 Security Edition and when she attempts to connect in the morning she will get an error 52GPAB. If she continues attempting to dial, eventually she will connect, but it takes a long, long time to get in. I told her to disable her McAffee and dial. It worked yesterday but not today. Any suggestions?

is it the same accsess number that she is having trouble with. i know that aol will try a different number if one fails. maybe try the order in which the computer dials the numbers placing the ones that allow her to get a connection infront of those that do not

I know the original post about this problem is old; perhaps you have already solved. I had this same problem recently when I loaded AOL on a new home computer, and could not connect. I looked for solutions over the Internet via my office computer, but couldn't find any reference to the 52GFAB error message except on this forum...not even on the AOL site.

Try this, it worked for me:

When you set up the connection options in AOL and choose access numbers, the AOL default number(s) include the area code. If you are dialing to a local number (where it is not necessary to dial the area code) the AOL default phone number(s) won't work, because AOL is dialing with the unnecssary area code. Manually edit the AOL access numbers to delete the area code, and you should be able to dial up and connect. System re-start after the number edit was not necessary for me.

Hope this helps.
