Anyone know how to stop a fan from whining on a video card?

PNY 5200 128mb Ram, whines once in a while, progressivly got worse then I got sick of it and I cleared out the dust and checked it out, its now whiney as [bleep].

Can anything be done to fix or does this mean I have to get a new card?

If it just screws on, should be able to take it out (making sure you remember which way back on it goes) and dust it that way and maybe very lightly put some WD40 on it.

Failing that, could be the signs of the fan beginning to fail. You may be able to find a substitute one from a local computer shop.

There is also the factor of having to reapply thermal compound to the heaysink if it has one. you can also buy replacement fans and cooolers, although arctic dont make a silencer for the 5200 whihc is a shame because they are the best. Fx 5200s usually dont have any fans at all and just have a heat sink.
