My monitor shuts off briefly with a flickering square in the corner. This happens when I backup Quicken 2005 and when McAfee virus checker 10 does an update. These are the only times.

I have the following:

1. Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2.
2. 512 MB Ram
3. Adapter NVIDIA GeForce Ti4600
4. Color Quality-Highest 32 Bit
5. Screen Refresh Rate at 75 hertz.
6. Hardware Acceleraton at Full.
7. Settings---1024 by 768 Pixels.
8. AMD Athlon XP 2100+ 1.73 GHz.

Any ideas.

Failing monitor? Have you removed the connection to the monitor to the video port and re-attached it?

Neither program would seem to adjust the resolution or refresh rate, so it seems odd that either would result in this.

Cna you hook up to another monitor? Will the problem repeat with a second monitor?
