Hi,

I'm helping out a friend with her computer, which seems like it may have a virus. She has Pro, which I'm not used to, so I'm wondering if I need to download any service packs like I did with my Home version.

The Windows version shows up in System as: Professional Version 2002.

Can I proceed with posting a Hijack This log, or do I need to install any sort of Windows Update?

Thanks.

Hi ssilk!

Yes you should download and install Service Pack 2 before posting a HiJackThis log in the Malware Forum.

Howdy:

NO !!! Do NOT install SP2 before removing malware.. The best you want to go is SP1..

If you post your HJT log in Malware, they will give you the link to SP1 !!!
