:tazz: I have a new FireLite USB disk that won't install because the Hardware Update Wizard can't find the necessarysoftware. The system recognizes the device when I plug it in but fails to install. The new hardware has no drivers available for XP. Based on what I could determine from plugging it into another Wn XP machine, it uses the standard MS Disk Drives driver which my machine is using for it's internal drive. I'm flustered, I've tried hacking the registry to no avail. Any Ideas?

Are you updated to sp2?

if so

Unplug the dirve, then go to device manager

start > run
devmgmt.msc
<enter>

Scroll to the bottom and remove all USB devices by right clicking and choosing uninstall

Reboot your machine.

Let windows reinstall hardware

Reattach drive
