I have two Dell Inspiron 2100 laptops and both of them have problems with spontaneous shut down. One will shut down after seconds of operation and the other only once in a while when certain programs are run, or a USB is installed or even sometimes without warning... Shut down is like the power is abruptly shut off and without any kind of warning.

I suspect a problem in the power supply of the laptop, and have heard that this is a common problem with these laptops. Since I am fairly technically capable, I want to try to repair them, does anyone know how to solve this problem or have any tips on troubleshooting?
