Received error messages when tried to install "PowerQuest Partition Magic 7.0" & "Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5" software. Error messages were not the same for the two cases & they gave no indication (as usual) as to the cause of the problem. Prior message in this forum indicated "Zone Alarm Firewall" can be the cause of install error messages.

Uninstalled "Zone Alarm Firewall", installed software with no error messages, & then reinstalled "Zone Alarm Firewall" (it is a hassle to have to re-enter firewall "Trusted Zone" info after reinstall)(it is also a hassle to try to provide feedback to Zone Alarm about such problems; gave up trying).

Any other info re this issue ???

Keith

Both software installs mentioned were initiated offline from CD's & all open programs were closed prior to initiating the installs (i.e. including security related programs; anti-virus, anti-spyware & Zone Alarm Firewall freeware version 6.1.1.737.000).

I just installed Roxio 7 with ZA running, ZA didn't do anything, after the reboot, updated Roxio, ZA popped up about updater trying to access the internet and once during the update installation

Keith,

You had better luck than I did on your Roxio install. However, in the future if I get error messages on installing software, my first try to eliminate the errors will be to remove the Zone Alarm firewall.

The ZA Forums are a good place to look and ask, you do get versions where problems happen with certain programmes and someone there can usually suggest a version

I suggested disabling ZA so it didn't / couldn't get in the way, starnge it still managed to

I just installed and updated with all the other programmes running and while posting on here
