needing a little help with playing dvds

i am having problems playing dvds on any of the media players installed on my pc

whenever the dvd goes in the players all shut down and produce an error report

any ideaas??

dell dimension 4300
XP
pentium 4
1.8Ghz
384Mb Ram
60Gb hard drive
64mb video card

the media players i have

power dvd
wmp
real player


DVDs used to work in the past

maybe i need a driver update or something?
