I'm new here (come from Experts Exchange), hope i'm doin this right!
My XP Pro OS would'nt go into HIBERNATION Untill I disabled all of my start up items (run>'msconfig') And no problems. I hav'nt had time to investigate by deduction but, basically if you have to many progs' running using to many resources the system wont go into HIBERNATION. If anyone knows of this problem could you help out. I have about 8 prog's running in my tray. Is there anything I can do without closing down my processes?

It sounds as though one of the programs you have running in the background is consuming resources and not allowing your system to enter hibernation mode.

Yes you were right. It was my broadband connection for some reason. Which is fine as I have 9 prgrms running in my tray all of which are very handy, I can configure my connection to terminate itself Before hibernation trys to kick in; (hopefully). I read somewhere that Windows 2000 has this problem. Seems like a usefull site - I'm off to the newbies' page!
