Newbie with audio playback trouble

I hope you can help, up until today I have had no trouble with sound from Kazaa downloaded tracks. My cd ripped music plays no problem, video files downloaded from Kazaa have sound too but when I download an audio track NO SOUND!!

Is it just a coincidence that yesterday when I interrupted a cd burn & it said something along the lines of 'there was a problem & now codecs have been disabled' I think it said that anyway. If that is the reason why theres no sound on tracks I want to download today, how do I correct it?? If it isn't & I admit I'm sceptical cos surely I wouldn't be able to hear any music files or sound on video files. But then again, what do I know??

Any ideas?? :tazz:
