I'm new and haven't browsed all the past posts, so forgive me if this is something already discussed. I'm on Windows XP. My default browser is Netscape. Every 15 or 20 minutes a Netscape window trying to reach "www.mmm-sites.biz" pops up. This is really bothersome when I'm trying to play a game or something and it kicks me out to the Netscape screen. I've run AdAware and Hijackthis and Spybot S&D and removed just about everything that I think might be the cause. I've run TrendMicro virus etc software. I've looked for suspect processes running. What am I missing? Any ideas? Thanks. Here's my current Hijackthis log:

You Have a CoolWebSearch Infection.

Please Download CoolWebShredder, from http://www.merijn.or.../cwshredder.zip, Extract it & run the program. Click the Next Button & let it scan. Make sure you let it fix all CWS Remnants. Afterwards, Please Post a fresh Hijack This log.

Thanks for your quick reply and help. I ran CWShredder and it removed a bunch of stuff. And I haven't had the popup yet.

Just a little cleaning up to do. Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:6711
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {0428FFC7-1931-45b7-95CB-3CBB919777E1} - (no file)

Afer a week or so, if everything seems to be working okay you can delete the Hijack This folder.

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.
Link to SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacools...areblaster.html

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

Thank you very much for your help and time. I can't remember the last time I got that kind of prompt, useful help for free. In a world in which hardly anybody does anything for others without personal gain, what you're doing for all these dispirited people with PC issues like myself, is more than just refreshing ... it's extraordinary :-)
