Based from my experience - removing a heatsink is a big no-no. You might damage the processor which is right under it. That would mean wrecking your pc. If you really have to then try to use a flat object and wedge it between the heat sink and processor (omg this is pretty tricky). But if I were you I wouldn't touch the darn thing.

Why not slide the drive in through the front of the machine?
