I am not able to edit by backround settings in the Display Properties screen. This happened after I contracted a SpySherriff spyware. The backround had always displayed Spyware Infected message. I have since been able to remove the SpySherriff from my computer, and I also was able to remove the Spyware Infected display from the backround, but I cannot change by Backround Settings. My backround stays a Blue Screen and all of my Icons are intact. In the Display Properties Screen and on the Desktop tab, the screen that is pictured is completely white, but the Backround setting selection is locked out.

Note: If I create a new User on my computer, I am then able to select any setting within the Desktop-Backround settings. I could change My user login, but I do not want to loose my existing settings. Please Help. Thank You.

Hi camp4x4! Welcome to G2G!

When you right click on the desktop and select PROPERTIES, does the DISPLAY PROPERTIES windows appear?

I'm actually having the same problem. I had contracted a Trojan, something called Popcorn, and SpySheriff. I've removed them using HijackThis, but my background is still a black screen. Every time I run another HijackThis scan, SpySheriff is running again. I'd really appreciate any help.
