Help Reinstalling OS (XP) on Pavilion 304w

Hi, I need some advice on reinstalling Xp on a pavilion 304w...I have a set of 8 cd's from HP and when i try to do a rescue and reinstall the operation hangs (stops) at the end of the first cd..its as far as i can get...this partitions the harddrive with a 5+gig primary partition and a 33+gig logical partition..
should not the hard drive have another hidden partition where the rescue files are.? it dose not show up..

any help would be apreciated..
