Screen Flickering?

Sometimes when I open my laptop my screen flickers on and off. I use this for presentations and that cant happen. Can someone give me some ideas what it might be?

I'd check the little "pin" which gets pushed when you close the lid of the notebook to see if its sticking or intermittantly contacting and powering off the screen.
