Slow dialup connections

How much do you pay on Dial-up calls per month alone? What sort of deal are you on? When I had Dial-up, I found that the cost per month was almost the same as Cable; however the connection speed was far inferior. If you find out those details, you'll probably have a better chance of convincing your parentsAlright so my parents have decided not to leave the stone age and refuse to pay $40 a month for broadband
Anywho, back on topic -- the first thing I'd suggest for you to do would be to make sure that your computer is free of Malware, by utilizing the resources here.

On the other part, I run a pretty tight ship on my comp, it should be malware free, I have those programs and run them on a regular basis. Any other ideas?

Ah, I see.We don't pay for dialup, my mom works for a university and we connect through them for free. Otherwise I could prolly get them convinced.
If you connect through a University's network, have you checked to see if the Internet speed drops during peak hours -- this could be between 6pm-9pm when all the Uni kids are just browsing? Or, have you noticed any pattern? On the other part, I run a pretty tight ship on my comp, it should be malware free, I have those programs and run them on a regular basis. Any other ideas?
You say it started about a week ago -- how long have you been on that network prior to that?
Goto Start, Run, type CMD and press 'OK' - now type: PATHPING Google.com - please copy and paste the results by right-clicking on the Command Prompt window, selecting 'Select All', and then pressing Ctrl+C. Please post the results here.
Please download PingPlotter. Run it and perform a search to the following website: google.com -- Once it is finished, click on 'Edit', and then select 'Copy as Text'. Paste the results here.
Please goto Start, Run, type CMD and press 'OK' - now type: netstat -rn and press enter; please post the results here.

Can you please download this third-party Trace router, and run it. Run a trace to Google.com again. Unfortuantely, there's no way to copy the contents of this, so please just take a Screen Shot, and post that.
Thanks,
Dan.

Your first hop is going to your localhost, which is fine.. However, your second hop jumps off to another address, rather than connecting to the Universities Network.
I'm going to think about this for a little while, I'll post back in a bit.
Please answer my above question, if you know...
Thanks,
Dan.
