hey i have lots of spyware and popup problems so i'm trying to sort them out cause they're getting annoying. I have a whole list of randoms tuff.

The list includes:
norton antivirus recognising : bloodhound.packed, downloader trojan, w32.spybot.worm, IRC Trojan, trojan dropper, hacktool and backdoor, irc, ratsou.d
I believe these are mostly gone now as i used to have popup windows reminding me of them but they dont appera now.

I've also got the SAHagent golden retriever thing, search miracle popups, a serach bar on the side of my IE and a program called prjMensagem that runs on start up.

In add/remove programs i have these unfamiliar programs : adstatus service, elitebar, golden retriever and ISTsvc.

in my hard drive i have three suspicious files : asdf.txt, log, txt and ResumeOmgApDeliveryMgrCntrl_SonicStage_EmdDownloadObj.dmf

I have run spybot, adaware and still loads of the programs exist.

I would like some advice on what programs to help protect me.
I installed spyware blaster but only after the viruses. I've set all the proper settings for spyware blaster so will this protect me in the future? Any other programs you could recommend? I have my WSP2 firewall on as well.

for some reason when i go to windows update the page dosn't work and all i get is a blank screen. ?? Also in your guide i checked the adaware option "move deleted files to the recycle bin" and now theres some files in there that can't be deleted.

so anyway here is my hijack this log

thanks for any help you can give.

Your hijack this log is pretty nasty. Because of that I really need you to download the latest version of Hijack This and posting the new log. It will catch a great number of items the old version will not catch.

Check my signature for the download. :tazz:

hey, thanks again for the reply

i've done pretty much all you said but there were some points that i just wanted to make sure you knew:

you gave a few .exe files without a directory e.g. winmedplay.exe and jah.exe etc.

i searched for these in the C drive and found nothing

you asked me to delete adstatserv.exe. There was none but there was an adstatkeep.exe and a dll file. I didn't delete them though.

I ran the online virus scan. There were aboue 20 non cleanable files, mostly starting with TROJ.something.something
However there was also a BKDR Ibounce.A files.

I'm not sure how important these are but i didn't delete them. Most were located in temp folders.

I downloaded moosoft and scanned with it. Is it worth running TcActive and TCMonitor at startup? Shoul i have checked the options "disable scripts" or "repair associations"?

i did a scan anyway and some istbar files were cleaned and deleted.

so heres my new log file

Sorry I forgot about you. :tazz:

ran the online virus scan. There were aboue 20 non cleanable files, mostly starting with TROJ.something.something
However there was also a BKDR Ibounce.A files.

I'm not sure how important these are but i didn't delete them. Most were located in temp folders.

Always delete the items in the temporary folders.

Close all programs down, leaving only HijackThis running.
Place a check against the following items:

O2 - BHO: &EliteBar - {28CAEFF3-0F18-4036-B504-51D73BD81ABC} - C:\WINDOWS\EliteToolBar\EliteToolBar.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: &EliteBar - {825CF5BD-8862-4430-B771-0C15C5CA8DEF} - C:\WINDOWS\EliteToolBar\EliteToolBar.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [-
] C:\WINDOWS\mipdp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [popuppers] C:\WINDOWS\newpop63.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [1F9L4i] C:\WINDOWS\mipdp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [antiware] C:\windows\system32\eliteuzf32.exe

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.media-motor.net
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.popuppers.com

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\mipdp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\newpop63.exe
C:\windows\system32\eliteuzf32.exe

Delete all your temp. files again and run the virus and trojan scans.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we'll take another look.

Sorry I forgot about you.  :tazz:

That's completely understandable with so many people asking for help ;)

Always delete the items in the temporary folders.

when running the online scan i kinda deleted all the items whether they were in temp. folders or not. Let me know if thats a problem

delete following files:
C:\WINDOWS\mipdp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\newpop63.exe
C:\windows\system32\eliteuzf32.exe

just in case: they weren't there

Delete all your temp. files

by that i'm guesing you meant like before with "C drive->right click->properties->disk cleanup". If not let me know.

so heres my hijack this log

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN :tazz:

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. ;)

Thanks for cleaning my system of spyware and malware stuff.

I actually have everything setup and do everything that you said except having firefox as a browser.

I'll definately consider downloading firefox. Is it possible to change between IE and Firefox whenever you want?

And if you don't mind one last question: those trojans that infected my system were they there before i installed spyware blaster or can they still get through if i go to a bad site. oh and is it because of an IE fault that the trojans are alowed to come through?

thanks again for all your help

Yes.

Spyware Blaster doesn't prevent trojans or clean trojans. It prevents the downloading of Active X controls. Make sure you see if needs to be updated about once a week. :tazz:

i'm now using firefox :tazz:

it's actually really good. The best bit is the customisable toolbars oh and the tabbed windows. Thanks for the reccomendation.

So.....

- i have spyware blaster setup
- i run adaware every now and again
- i run Spybot S+D every now and again
- i run winows updates every now and again
- i run "the cleaner" (from moosoft) every now and again
- i run trend micro housecall every now and again
- i have Norton antivirus installed that scans every week.
- i use firefox with Sun's Java

Is there the possibility of any of these programs interfering with each other?

apart from having linux as my OS is there any other recommendations you can give?

such as removing the rixk of trojans being downloaded.

thanks
