I apologize for posting this in 2 forums, but I could not figure out how to migrate from operating system to internet and browsers forum.

Good afternoon all; I am attempting to troubleshoot my daughters computer. When I attempt to open internet explorer, the hourglass shows the system is "working" for a few seconds and then stops. At this point no window opens and no errors are generated. When I attempt to adjust settings in tools, the computer stops responding and I am forced to end task. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.
