Hi

I am trying to reinstall Zone Alarm.

But I keep getting message : vsmon.exe Application error " The instruction at 0x01cc2ccd referenced memory at 0x000000018. The memory could not be "read"

and also message:

vsmon.exe The instruction at "0x01cc2ccd" reference memory at ")0x00000018". The memory could not be "read"
ClickOK to terminate the programme

Can some tell me please what I need to do to be able to reinstall ZA.

( It happens whether I try to install Pro, or suite, or free versions, I have tried thru Safe Mode).

Many thanks

Hi Kieth

I don't even get as far the window which has this request, all I get is when trying to reinstall is a small window "Verifying installed components etc" then the above message. It doesn't get as far as any windows asking for name, email address etc.

Hope I have described OK.

Many thanks

Download whichever version you want of ZA, (trial versions for suite or pro), save it to a folder, right click the taskbar icon, click shutdown ZA, confirm, open the folder with the downloaded copy, click set up, choose clean install

When you say re-install, have you already removed it, if so Use search to look for zonelabs, include hidden and system files

You should get one in windows system 32, delete that

Look for zonealarm, you should get two, an application and a programme file folder, delete those

Then

Download, install and run Tune Up 2006 Trial

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete.

Run Tune Up disc clean up

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Click optimize and improve to run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

You should then be able to download the version you want from here

http://www.zonelabs....n&lid=hotryzass

Download to a folder you create then install it from there

You can then run through the other steps here

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

Hi Keith

Many thanks for your ongoing help.

Unfortunately the prob still exists, I "suspect" it may be a registry prob so I guess ther's only one way to fix it.

A fresh install Of Windows. Damm.

Many thanks
