.txt files only open on wordpad

Before when I opened .txt files, they would automatically open with notepad. But now, they will only open on wordpad. I tried right-clicking the file and going to "open with.." but notepad wasn't under the recommended programs list. I tried browsing for it, but when I found it in C:\Windows, and doubleclicked the notepad program, nothing happened.

try the one in system32 directory

Problem fixed. Turns out notepad.exe was missing from the System32 folder. I just made a copy from the windows folder. Thanks for your help.
