I have a msi P4MAM2-V mother-board with VIA VT8751A & VT8237 chip set running a Celeron 2.93 processor. The mobo has 8 usb2 plugs. Under device manager in systems it lists 1 USB2 Root Hub, 4 USB Root Hubs, 1 VIA PCI ti USB Enhanced Host Controller and 4 VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controllers and says all are working properly.
When I plug in a camara or mouse it recognizes the device by name (ie. Cannon camara) under the heading other devices, BUT when I try too download the pictures get a message saying nothing is connected.
Also should these not show up in My Computer ??

Most USB hardware needs drivers in win98 (assuming your using 98 as in your details)

If you still have the discs that came with your hardware browse them and see if they have 98 drivers on there. if not browse the web (google is your friend) or maybe driverguide.com and find some 98 drivers for these.

That should take care of the problem.
