Hello. I am having trouble finding the multimedia audio drivers for my computer. My computer has an
onboard sound card with no distinct markings. It is a HP Pavillion 752n. Since this computer is a loaner,
I do not know the specs. If you have any info regarding the type of sound card it carries, or where I might
be able to find a driver, I would love the help. I downloaded the DriverGuide Toolkit and ran the diagnostic tool. It said the sound card was an Intel 82801 DB/DMB SoundMax Sound Card. However, I have not been able to load compatible driver for it, so the DriverGuide Toolkit may be leading me in the wrong direction.
Please help!! I miss my music!!!!

Download and install Everest Home Edition

Run the programme, click + next to computer then summary

Look on right for multimedia / audio adapter

Look at the manufacturer’s site for the suitable drivers for your Operating System

If you are unable to find them, please post the make and model here before you download anything

Please set a system restore point before you install anything

Everest listed my configuration as follows:

Analog Devices AD1981A @ Intel 8281DB ICH4 - AC'97 Audio Controler [A-1]

Nothing is listed under Windows Audio.

I have searched Driverguide, Intel, and hp for the "AC'97" with no succes. Any good suggestions?

Thanks again for your help!

I looked at HP and they have everything but audio drivers

http://h10025.www1.h...en&cc=us&os=228

They say you can use their recovery procedure to load indivudual drivers, or tey windows update

Step 5: Restoring sound drivers
Use the HP or Compaq application recovery process to restore individual drivers for your original PC sound hardware. This software utility is part of the recovery software and can be used to restore drivers and software. You can find this application in the start menu under HP Tools, HP Help & tools, Compaq, or Compaq Tools. For more information, refer to HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Obtaining Software and Drivers .
Restart the computer after restoring the sound driver software and test for sound. If there is still no sound, continue to the next Step.
Step 6: Installing an updated sound driver
Search HP's Support Web site to find updated sound driver software. Type the name of the PC model exactly as it appears on the case of the PC. Read the instructions on the download pages carefully before installing the drivers.
If there are no updated sound drivers available from HP, use Microsoft's Windows Update feature to see if Microsoft has the drivers listed. Connect to the Internet and go to the Windows Update site . Follow the instruction on the Web pages. For more information about how to use Windows Update refer to: HP and Compaq PCs - Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update .
If either Web site does not contain updated drivers, continue to the next Step.
