its a new comp, first time turning it on, no dice

First of all lets get some more info

What type of comp, store brought, built yourself

what operating system was loaded if any

list the system specs if you have them

has it ever worked with this or any other hard disc

What is the make and model of the motherboard

finally, please post the FULL error message you get
