Hello,
First time here and I need words of wisdom.

I have Compaq Presario, running win 98 as somehow I wiped off the 2nd edition... I do have the factory reinstall disc, but I do not want to lose all everything I have~ Can I put it in and just get the 2nd edition back???

Other MAJOR problem... I have AVG virus protection and ZoneAlarm, all current. Lately the computer will freeze up every 1-3+ mins for approx 1/2 to 2 minutes. Only the little timer icon still spins and if I keep typing after the computer unfreezes the stuff I type does appear- not all of it but most of it.

I have run the spyware- Adware and Spybot and a couple of free registry programs and the latest one- Windows Resistry Repair Pro has corrected everything except 2 things it says I need to pay them $20 (for their program) in order to get thse last 2 itmes fixed. And how do I know if that is what is even wrong???

Please what should I try? Which thread has the instructions I need?

Yes I have gone into Safe mode and defraged and scanned discs and cleaned cookies, history, browsers, etc-

No error messages, all just freezes and then unfreezes, except for the little spinning sand timer type design icon if that is up on the screen.

Thanks so very much. :tazz:
