Link works fine here !

But you can use this as an alternative:

Download CCleaner and install it. (Please do not run the CCleaner utility yet.)

Start Ccleaner. click "Options", click the "Advanced" tab
Uncheck: "Only delete files older than 48 hrs.", click Ok
Click "Cleaner" and click Run Cleaner (bottom right).

Okay, I installed SP2. Last time I installed it, the Security Center wouldn't come up. It said the service failed to start. This time around, the Security Center seems to be working, but it doesn't look like it looks on my other XP SP2 computers. I guess that's not too much of a problem. But I still got that problem that some of my other services won't start. Like when I try to start the Windows Firewall through the Security Service, it still won't start it. My scheduler service won't start, either. I'm guessing a lot of my other services don't start either, but I haven't checked them. Help?

Maybe this helps:
  • Start | Run | type msconfig | OK
  • If not already selected go to the General tab.
  • Under Startup Selection select "Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services".
  • Click Apply and then Close.
  • When given the option, please choose to restart the computer.
  • Post a new log when you are done.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Step #1

Scan again with HijackThis and check the following items:
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aida] C:\Documents and Settings\jaimejd007\Application Data\ttuh.exe
After checking these items, close all browser windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked".

Then reboot your computer.

Step #2

Find and delete these files and folders (if they are still there):
C:\Documents and Settings\jaimejd007\Application Data\ttuh.exe <= this file

Reboot your computer again.

Step #3

Please download OldTimer's Winpfind from here:
http://www.bleepingc...es/winpfind.php
Unzip it to the desktop and run Winpfind.exe.

Once the scan is finished, please CLOSE the Notepad window that pops up. Then please post the entire contents of the logfile winpfind.txt here for me.

I deleted the O4 ttuh.exe entry from HijackThis! and I restarted my comp. The file ttuh.exe wasn't on my AppData folder. Anyways, here's the WinpFind log:
WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Log looks clean...

I believe the problem with the Firewall Service can be solved by going to:

1. Start -> Run -> Type: cmd and press Enter.

In the command prompt type: netsh winsock reset and press Enter.

Follow the prompts and reboot.

2. Sometimes netsh winsock reset doesn't fix it.

In that case, try this one:

Reboot and tell me if it worked!

The problem is not only with the Firewall. The problem is with my services. I just checked my Security Center and my Windows Firewall and none of them work because the services can't start. Either way, I did what you told me to about the netsh winsock reset...didn't help. Any other suggestions?

Yessir, tried that too. But like I said, that's probably not the problem. It's with all my services, not just the firewall one.

Please go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

When it's finished, reboot your computer.

Tell me if this worked!
