Ok well, awhile back i disabled my IE, by doing it with Disable-ie.bat.

Well i went to install Internet Explorer 7, and it said "Internet explorer could not be installed. Please take a look at the logs in your system directory."

Alright well i went and did the Enable process and nothing happend..so i investigated more and its like my IE got deleted.

C:\Program files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE is Empty.

I tried to download and install IE 6 SP1..it said i already have a newer one installed.

Any help with fixing this?

I disabled I.E. because i didnt need it. Plus to prevent popups.

You can make a .Bat file to disable and enable I.e.

@echo off
C:
cd "\Program Files\Internet Explorer"
if not exist IEXPLORE.EXE goto End
if exist IEXPLORE.EX_ del IEXPLORE.EX_
if not exist IEXPLORE.DIR md IEXPLORE.DIR
if not exist IEXPLORE.DIR goto End
attrib -r -h -s IEXPLORE.EXE
ren IEXPLORE.EXE IEXPLORE.EX_
if exist IEXPLORE.EXE goto End
ren IEXPLORE.DIR IEXPLORE.EXE
echo IE disabled.
echo If prompted, click "Cancel" then "Yes" on File Protection restore.
echo Run enable-ie.bat to allow IE to run again.
:End

does it look like that?

and did you run this
@echo off
C:
cd "\Program Files\Internet Explorer"
if not exist IEXPLORE.EX_ goto End
if not exist IEXPLORE.EXE goto Activate
attrib -r -h -s IEXPLORE.EXE
rd IEXPLORE.EXE
if exist IEXPLORE.EXE del IEXPLORE.EXE
:Activate
ren IEXPLORE.EX_ IEXPLORE.EXE
echo IE enabled.
:End
before trying to reinstall?

Yeah ive tried both of those, im sure its enabled, but when i go into all programs and click internet explorer

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

Brings me there, which is an empty folder.

i put in my windows cd to try and see if i could reinstall IE from that..and i told it to install IE..restarted my PC and it still wasnt there so hmm..

ive checked my registry and basically everything in there is the same as my friends and his works..just the fact that i dont have IExplorer.exe

do a file search on your xp cd for IEXPLORE.* you should find a file called IEXPLORE.EX_...copy that over and change it to IEXPLORE.EXE

I searched for IEXPLORE in my windows CD, and it came up with 3 files,

IEXPLORE.CH_
IEXPLORE
IEXPLORE.HL_

The middle one says its an EX_ file. I dont know how to change it over to a .EXE though.
