Hi again,

This morning before work I ran the AVG several times because you can re-start it from where it froze.

In the Events Viewer (Application) these 3 things are repeated in that time.

Avg7updSvc event 1

AvgEms event 1

SecurityCenter event 1800

Think it froze about 10 times and I never did get time to finish the scan

In Events veiwer (Security)

This is repeated

SYSTEM
LOCAL SERVICE
LOCAL SERVICE
LOCAL SERVICE
LOCAL SERVICE
ANONYMOUS LOGON
NETWORK SERVICE

could you give the full detail of these error messages

start > run, type
eventvwr.msc
<enter>

Look under systems and applications for items with red Xs that happened at the SAME time as your problem...list them here.

when you find those errors in the list...double click them..it will open up the full details of the error message...copy that info into your next post

when you

that wasn't what i was hoping for.....

do you still have all of the installers for the antispyware programs taht you have..and the anti virus programs?

if so....can you uninstall ALL of them...and stay off the internet...

then reinstall them one by one....like

reinstall adaware and run it...if it works...uninstall it and try the next one...like spybot or whatever you have...if it works uninstall and then install the next...if any of them don't work...(i.e. freeze during a scan) uninstall it and move on....save AVG for last

Hi,

Well here's what happened ..........

uninstalled Ad-aware, Spybot and AVG

installed Ad-ware started it at 14.20 Froze at 14.29 (restarted the PC at the wall) uninstalled it.

installed Spybot started it at 14.38 Froze at 14.40 (restarted the PC at the wall) uninstalled it.

Installed AVG started it at 14.58 Froze at 14.58 (restart the PC at the wall )

I know you said stay off the internet but being broadband after starting the PC up after freezing the MSN messanger comes in. :tazz:

well...that's ok...just as long as you're not browsing around...

this is gonna take us a little while to figure out...

http://www.memtest.o...1.65.floppy.zip download that....unzip it to a folder on your desktop named memtest...then put a floppy in the drive (hopefully you have a floppy..otherwise we can do this another way)....and run the exe that you unzipped into the memtest folder...it will create a bootable floppy for you...boot to that floppy and let this test run for a while....usually an hour is ok....2 hours is better...6hours is...well...6 could be overkill...but keep in mind...this test will run till you stop it...so don't expect it to say it's finished...report any errors that show up..

Hi dsenette

I don't think this is good news ! :tazz:

I ran the test twice, both times it Froze after only going for 15mins. It had reach test 4, 81% :)

It had found no errors in that short time !
