I bought a Geforce4 128mb video card to replace my Geforce2 64mb video card. The one thing that had me worred was the Geforce4 is a PCI were the Geforce2 is AGP. Right away after installing it I had troubles. When I tried to boot up it would get as far as the Windows loading screen then it would reboot and give me these options: Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Console, Last Known correct configuration (can't remember word for word), and Normal Mode. No matter what I picked it would reboot at Windows loading.

I finally decided to try a new hard drive and that went on pretty well. I got my card working by selecting PCI instead of AGP in the bios video section. The card was a complete dissapointment however, when I finally got a game up and running the FPS was less than 3 where my other one was usually around 13. I figure this has alot to do with it being PCI instead of AGP.

So I pulled the card, switched back to AGP in bios and it started doing a similar thing. This time during the Windows loading screen a blue screen appears and it says something to the effect of: If this is the first time seeing this screen reboot and try again, if you've seen it before try restoring your previous configuration. It also mentions something about disabling cash and shadowing in bios which I never saw anything like that in bios. When I reboot from this screen it gives me the Safe Mode,..., Normal Mode option screen again. I can boot into Windows this time using safe mode but the Last known good configuration and Normal Mode give me the blue screen.

I can boot up the computer in normal mode only if I put the PCI video card back in (but its not the one I'm using). I just tried reseting bios by unplugging and removing the battery for 15 minutes but it's still giving me that same blue screen. Any suggestions?

Have you tried going into safe mode and uninstalling the drivers?
