Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. It is really quite simple. You can open windows explorer, find the file you want to move, select it and "copy" or "cut", then go to the external hard drive and "paste" it there. You can use this process for a single file, or thousands of files.

I would not put programs on an external HD. It runs too slow to use like a internal drive. I use external drives for backups and when i am saving data from a puter that is going to be reformatted.

Thanks Guys...for your input. The only programs I was planning to install would be my Moive Editor and Photo Editor!!! ...Just didn't want to bog-down my main hard-drives. Plus I was going to load my documents to it for back-up purposes.

...Again THANKS for your input!!!
