Just a quickie... I have been trying to fully view a webcam site the url is :-

http://www.forksnort...age.com/webcam/

This page allows the user to manipulate the web camyet with firefox it doesn't seem to want to load the java script. The Java console displays the following log entries.

load: class not found.
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.loadCode(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.createApplet(Unknown Source)
at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.createApplet(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.
at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.getBytes(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.access$100(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
... 10 more
Is there an extension that will allow me to remotely operate the webcam from with in Firefox?

thank you in anticipation... :tazz:

Well nigella, there is a few things you can try.

1. http://www.mozilla.o...ox/central.html This is probably where you will find your answer. But, if it does not solve the problem, try the other steps.

2. Try installing/reinstalling the latest version of java player http://dlc.sun.com/j...dows-i586-p.exe

3. Uninstall Firefox and reinstall it.

That is odd because I can view that cam and I have the same version as you? so maybe it is not related to that. If you have internet explorer installed try viewing it in that browser.

thanks canad1an,

I can view the cam but I am unable to take control of the cam as the website says is possible. If you click on the control button a control pad is enabled tha t allows you to change the view of the cam and it's this that I am unable to access and this is when the logfile entries occur

I have 4 entries for jave in the Add/Remove program window, they are:-

Java2 Runtime environment Standard edition v1.2.2

Java2 Runtime environment Standard edition v1.3.1_04

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 1

J2SE Development Kit 5.0 Update 1

Should I remove the two JAVA2 entries? :tazz: ;)
