Hey,

I've recently been having problems with my IDE devices. My DVDROM, and DVDRW just haven't been working. They're not being detected by windows, and it seems they are only partly detected in the system BIOS. I never used to have a problem with them. In the BIOS my optical drives were recognized as their model number, like, "NEC 12345". But now, it just says, "DVDROM". I recently bought an IDE harddrive, that isn't working either. It's recognised in the BIOS aswell, however only recognized as "Hard Drive", whereas my SATA drive is recognized as it's model number eg. "WD 12345" although the hard drive's capacity is correctly displayed in the BIOS. I have checked all the connections, jumpers etc but nothing seems to work. I've tried booting from disk, but it acts as though there's no CD there, and so goes to the next boot device. This is driving me insane. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nick
