IEPlugin and Downloadware keep showing up when doing a spybot/adaware scan.

I can remove them, but they keep coming back.

I think I would get rid of sst.dll
Close all programs down, leaving only HijackThis running.
Place a check against the following items:

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Then see how the scans run.

Adjust your browser settings: Change your(active x) settings in IE. With IE open go to tools, internet options, security tab. Click on the internet globe, then custom level. Set the first option "download signed active x controls" to prompt, the next two to disable. Read more:

Many exploits are directed at Internet Explorer, you dont have to use it. Try a different browser:
Like Firefox,
And Thunderbird for controling spam in your e-mail.

The Internet zome was already set the way you described.

I'm running XP SP2 if that makes any difference.

Is there anything else in the log that looks suspicious? I noticed that while I was getting the same registry changes for IMIToolbar (IEPlugin), none of the services or executables are present.

I noticed that there was a later version out (1.99.1) than what I used before. Can you please take a look at this and see if anything jumps out at you?

The following is unknown but I belive that it has some thing to do with the games.
Right click on the file and go to Properties.
Then go to the Version tab to see what company name it's from:

S3apphk.exe (do a search for this one. It'll probably be in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32.)

Little Eagle,

I did remove all of the items that you mentioned, still no workie.

Then I realized that the registry entries that the spyware sniffers found were artifacts of an incomplete removal. I went to the registry locations, set the permissions to read/write on the key and they deleted just fine. Once removed, they never returned.

The thing is, none of the spyware tools that I used (ad-aware, Spybot, MS Antispyware, the list goes on) attempted to change permission on the offending keys.
