hey,

I'm having some major popup problems. I run ad-aware and spybot s and d often as well as cwshredder, cleanup40 along with some other some other programs. None of them seem to be doing anything. I also seem to have a problem with the ABI network I even tried going to the site where it offers to take ABI off itself, this did not work. This will be the first time I ever use Hijackthis so not too sure what to do, but any help the staff from g2g could give would be great. I've had to stop about 20 times while writing this just to close popups. Heres my Log...
Thanks for any help
-Eli

Hey,

Sorry if I've sounded impatient, my comp has been driving me nuts. Just some things I thought I'd tell you that I don't know whether Hijackthis will fix. AIM will not allow me to sign on. IE has major popup problems and is very slow to open at times. Also my Norton antivirus subscription is running out in 4 days. Would you suggest resubscribing to that or maybe finding a new service? Anyways, heres my latest log, thanks for any help.

Hello canesline :)

This will take a few steps to get rid of all the malware that has infected your system. If you have any questions along the way just ask :tazz:

Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
  • Exit ewido. DO NOT scan yet.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

Please download this file: Nailfix Utility
Save it to your desktop.
DO NOT run it yet.

Download dsrfix.zip
Save it to your desktop.
  • Unzip dsrfix.zip and extract it to your desktop.
  • This will create a new folder on your desktop named dsrfix.
  • Do Not open that folder yet.
You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

To reboot into SafeMode with Windows XP, you can follow these steps from Microsoft:

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, start tapping press F8 key.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.exe.
Click "Next" in the setup, then make sure "Run Nailfix" is checked and click "Finish".
Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Now open ewido and do a scan of your system.
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items:

Close all open windows except for HJT, then click the Fix Checked button. Close HJT.

Now open the folder dsrfix on your desktop.
  • Double-Click on dsrfix.bat
  • A window will pop up briefly then close, this is normal.

Now run the CleanUp program:

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
CleanUp deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups.
If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp

Running CleanUp
  • Start CleanUp by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
  • When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
  • Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
  • Now place a checkmark next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
    • Delete Cookies
This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea
    • Empty Recycle Bins
    • Delete Prefetch files
    • Cleanup! All Users
  • Click OK
  • Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
  • When asked to reboot system select No
  • Close CleanUp
Finally, restart your computer back into Normal Mode and please post a new HJT log, as well as the [b]ewido report log
from the Ewido scan by using [b]Add Reply
We will have more work to do

Thanks :)

Loophole,

Hey, I downloaded everything like you said, however when I went into safemode and tried to run nailfix it said "the setup files are corrupted. Please obtain new copy of the program." I also tried to open it in Normal mode but got the same results. I downloaded the program three more times and got the same results every time. Any suggestions? I haven't done any other steps in the process. I'll wait for your response before I proceed.

Thanks,

-Eli

Loophole,

Thanks for all the help. I followed your instructions and ran Ewido and HJT, they both seemed to pick up a lot of stuff, however there were a few entries you told me to delete in HJT that did not show up when I ran a scan for them. I'm still getting popups like crazy, I don't know if what I've done is supposed to fix that or if thats a later step, or a whole other process in itself. yieldmanager.com and aurora still seem to be the most frequent popups with smileycentral.com mixed in once in a while. Here are my saved Ewido and HJT logs from when I scanned...

Hello Eli :tazz:

OK now we try to knock everything out. Follow the directions as best you can
You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Download and install CleanUp! Here
but do not run it yet.
*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups

Please update Ewido

Download Process Explorer from HERE

Run Process Explorer and find the following process in the list of Processes:

djqxysy.exe

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended the whole time! Do NOT close it - even when your system is rebooting!

Then run HijackThis. Click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select the file djqxysy.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES *NOTE* you will be re booting into safemode

Please reboot into safe mode Safe mode(continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

Cas
winCMAPP

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\Program Files\Cas
C:\WINDOWS\RXJpbgAA
C:\Program Files\winCMAPP

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\services32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\medgs1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gms2.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\opr.exe
c:\windows\SvcProc.exe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Please make sure this is in the WINDOWS folder

Now navigate to this folder C:\Windows\prefetch and delete everything IN the prefetch folder, DO NOT delete the prefetch folder itself

Now click START >>>>>>>> RUN and type in sc stop cmdService

Now click START >>>>>>>> RUN and type in sc delete cmdService

Now click START >>>>>>>> RUN and type in sc stop SvcProc

Now click START >>>>>>>> RUN and type in sc delete SvcProc

Run the cleanup program you installed earlier

Now open Ewido and do a full system scan Pleas save the log

Now reopen Hijackthis and do a scan, check the following (if not present dont be concerned)

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

loophole,

I already have cleanup so I didn't re-download it (should I?). I downloaded and ran process explorer however in the main window I did not see djqxysy.exe. I didn't go any further with your instructions... what should I do?
Here's a new HJT scan and my Ewido scan that I finally figured out how to attach.

Hello Eli :)

That file changes after a reboot so Ive adjusted the fix below. If you have the program then you do not have to redownload it :tazz:

OK now we try to knock everything out. Follow the directions as best you can
You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please update Ewido

Download Process Explorer from HERE

Run Process Explorer and find the following process in the list of Processes:

divphx.exe

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended the whole time! Do NOT close it - even when your system is rebooting!

Then run HijackThis. Click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select the file divphx.exe

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00F1D395-4744-40f0-A611-980F61AE2C59} - (no file)

Now click fix checked

Reboot and post the Ewido log and a new Hijack log

Thanks

Loophole,

Followed all your instructions and everything seemed to work out ok. I took some notes of stuff that happened so hopefully I'll remember what I was writing about and I also have some new questions.

Everything worked out with the process explorer this time. However in the Add/remove programs, neither Cas nor winCMAPP were present, however several other programs were and I wasn't sure what they were:
-Sysnet
-Windows Incontext
-Windows overlay Components
-Windows VisFX Components
-GsAds
-Command
Also Aurora "Part of the ABI Network" was still in there

Onto the next section:
Those programs that were not in add/remove (Cas, winCMAPP) were found with Windows explorer along with all of the other files you said to delete. However there were some things that looked strange. I noticed in C:\WINDOWS there were a bunch of folders with names like $NtUninstallKB893066$ usually only varying with the last string of numbers, is that normal to have all of those there? Also in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows there were 2 files which looked strange one was called AutoIt3 and there was another icon with a different name, when I looked in their properties their values said www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/. They could be nothing and I don't know much about computers but doing all this cleanup got my suspicions up so just checking...

Everything else went smoothly after this as well, however once Ewido was finished with its scan a window within the program popped up saying something like, C:\system volume (then a string of numbers) cannot be removed because it is embedded in its archive. Then it asked if I wanted to delete the entire archive, I said yes, is that ok?

And finally whenever I start up my computer a black code window opens up and an error message pops up with it saying C:\Windows\System\uhoq.exe
System32\AutoExec.NT. system file not suitable for running MS-DOS or something like that. I'm not sure what this is or what that all means, it asks if I want to close or ignore this, I always say close any ideas of what this means?

And finally, finally here is my latest Ewido and just scanned HJT logs:

Good news - weve made alot of progress :tazz: . We've gotten everything but one infection.(Aurora)

If you have rebooted your computer since the last hijack log I will need a brand new one as the file we are trying to get will change its name with every reboot

Download Process Explorer from HERE

Run Process Explorer and find the following process in the list of Processes:

uoycpmm.exe

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended the whole time! Do NOT close it - even when your system is rebooting!

Then run HijackThis. Click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select the file uoycpmm.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES

After the reboot check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wzlulzo] C:\WINDOWS\system32\uoycpmm.exe

Rescan with HiJackThis and post the new log.
