hello and welcome to geekstogo,
its not always easy to notice wether or not your have malware on your system. It very well seems that you might have some malware however this might not be the case. But to rule this out could you please follow the following advice.
Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .
That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.
If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
thanx
James

Hello agatestnalderman.
Try this: Start > Control Panel > (left pane) Switch to classic view > Internet Options > Click the connections tab > Click "LAN Settings" > Tick "Automatically detect settings". This should work, if it doesn't please tell me.

You may need to reinstall or update your antivirus software; I was having that problem with my system for awhile despite it having updated my antivirus program, but I reinstalled it and now it is working fine. Also, have you checked your firewall to make sure it's not blocking internet browsers or connections? Hope this helps!
