My C drive is actually the same physical harddrive as my D drive. I just partitioned it so the operating system was separate from the rest of it. But its a new drive. I got it around the end of last year.

But I may try a fresh install of Windows anyway I imagine it should solve the problem. I've never tried but is it possible to simply reformat a partition of a drive without reformatting the whole drive so that I only need to back up 15 GBs of stuff rather than 100 some?
