You can clean the optical lens with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab, or buy a cleaning disk at any home electronics dept or computer store. This is a cd with multiple brushes that clean the lens, costs less than $20.00, usually around $10.00. I have seen a guide for the cotton swab routine some time ago when I did a google search on topic "cleaning optical lens". If this doesn't work, try removing the device from hardware device manager, and then reinstall it. If that fails, I suspect the drive may have died.
