XP/ media player/ Norton Anti- Virus

Win XP- Computer wouldn't logoff, i uninstalled Norton anti-virus that problem was fixed- problem #2-try to open window media player and get/ "internal application error 126 and Norton anti-virus will not install from cd-click install button nothing happens. Thanks for your help !!!
