kc - thanks for the help...

i did the last instructions you sent...didn't complete the first set - that was the plan right?

What is svchost.exe? Is it also bad? See that a lot on my system.

Did aboutbuster - log below, Dr Morten Debugger crashed the computer after though...had to end the process
Did CWShredder - found nothing
Did HJT - removed the files
Rebooted into safe mode
Did Win Explorer deletion of the 3 files - didn't find the second one (think i deleted it earlier in this thread), but other two were deleted
Did KillBox - didn't find any of those 3 to delete (figured so, since i already did) - gave me a "pendingfilerenameoperations registry data has been removed by external process!" dialog.
Rebooted into normal mode
Did HJT - log below - noticed an entry of 023 - sdkps.exe still listed

opened IE and it went to Google, BUT that excitement was shortlived. closed IE and opened it again and got the about:blank home page again with "Only the Best" pop-ups. UGH.

Hi mtnewbie

Welcome to geekstogo

If you allready have the following Program there is no need to download them again.

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please download and install these programs - don't run them yet!!

Please download and unzip
About:Buster to a folder. Inside the folder is a readme file that has instructions on the use of the program.
AboutBuster MUST be updated before you use it.
Start AboutBuster, click the update button, check for update, drag the box to the side and hit download updates, close the box . Don't run it yet.

Please download and install AD-Aware.
Check Here on how setup and use it - please make sure you update it first.

Download and unzip cwsserviceremove to your desktop. use either link below:
cwsserviceremove

cwsserviceremove.zip

Download CW-Shredder at the link below:
CWShredder

Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

For anyone using Windows XP, 'Search' will not automatically show hidden files even if your folder options settings are set to do that. Do this so you can see hidden files and folders - Click here to download xphidden.zip. Extract xphidden.reg from the zip file and save it to the desktop. When done, double-click the xphidden.reg and when asked to merge say yes.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here's the fix:

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Skip this part

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you don´t find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

1. Run about buster

2. Reboot into Safe Mode: Click here if you don't know how to do this.

3. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete once -> Click Task Manager -> Click the Processes tab -> Double-click the Image Name column header to alphabetically sort the processes -> Scroll through the list and look for:

Skip this

If you find the files, click on them, and then click End Process -> Exit the Task Manager.

4. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS Scan with HijackThis and put checks next to all the following,

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\bjoqq.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\bjoqq.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\bjoqq.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\bjoqq.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\bjoqq.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\bjoqq.dll/sp.html#96676
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\bjoqq.dll/sp.html#96676
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2D77C53A-EFF7-1325-3487-10C15FF6011D} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlpe.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sdkiq.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkiq.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [atlsb.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlsb.exe
O16 - DPF: {89D75D39-5531-47BA-9E4F-B346BA9C362C} (CWDL_DownLoadControl Class) - http://www.callwave....DL_DownLoad.CAB
O23 - Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 11Fßä_#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\sdkps.exe" /s (file missing)

Then click on "Fix Checked"

5. Using Windows Explorer delete the following files if present:
If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. if it is uncheck it and try again.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\bjoqq.dll<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlpe.dll<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlsb.exe<--Delete this file

(and any other files with the same name that end in .dll, .exe or .dat, you may find them right next to each other, example - appsw.exe, appsw.dll, appsw.dat)

6. Run AboutBuster . This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them. Save the report (copy and paste into notepad or wordpad and save as a .txt file) and post a copy back here when you are done with all the steps.

7. Scan with AdAware and let it remove any bad files found.

8. Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure all are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check. Click on auto-startup

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache

9. Double click on the cwsserviceremove and when asked to merge say yes.

10. Run CW-Shredder - Hit the FIX button - let it run and fix what it finds.

11. Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.
Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot.
Paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.
Let the system reboot.

12. Reboot into normal mode.

13. Download the Hoster from here Press "Restore Original Hosts. and press "OK". Exit Program.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Hi mtnewbie

Welcome to geekstogo

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

You are running HijackThis from the Desktop; please create a new folder C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe into the new folder

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\sdkps.exe" /s

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you don´t find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

Reboot into Safe Mode: Click here if you don't know how to do this.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS Scan with HijackThis and put checks next to all the following,

O23 - Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\sdkps.exe" /s (file missing)
Then click on "Fix Checked"

5. Using Windows Explorer delete the following files if present:
If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. if it is uncheck it and try again.

C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall*.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall4_80.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall4_88.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall4_94.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall5_20.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntan.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\sdkiq.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\sysnm.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\udyqa.dll<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\appbx32.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\jioko.dll<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\netdi.exe<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\n_qkndji.txt<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\n_tzuary.dat<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\f3initialsetup1.0.0.5.inf<--Delete this file
Christopher Reedy\Favorites\Sites about\Ab scissor.url<--Delete this file

(and any other files with the same name that end in .dll, .exe or .dat, you may find them right next to each other, example - appsw.exe, appsw.dll, appsw.dat)

Run the ccleaner

Reboot into normal mode.

Please run the following free, online virus scans. Only need to run one now.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

kc -
1. RPC helper file not listed under HJT (023...)
2. ntan.exe, sysnm.exe, appbx32.exe, netdi.exe, and f3intitialsetup1.0.0.5.inf -- all NOT found under win explorer delete task
3. ccleaner would NOT function - stops and exits 5 seconds into running. downloaded and reinstalled again...still won't run
4. panda log below
5. hjt log below

Nortan scanned over night and also found "Dc2.dll" and "lkbydjnp.exe" in addition to the other ones i deleted in win explorer. I didn't do anything with them.

Panda found 2 files: the one above "f3initial..." and "Dc2.dll" on the system. -- why weren't they listed in win explorer - i even searched for those files using search function.

i did NOT test by opening IE or system programs or folders.

thanks again...

Hi mtnewbie

so you what to cintinue well that ok we me

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.
Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot.
Paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.
Let the system reboot.
