I have run the on-line scan as you suggested. Here is the results. It's interesting to note that it considers SDFix a potential; virus and unwanted tool. I shall go through the list and delete everything, I am also going through the drive and sorting them out, which is presumably what you were going to tell me to do next.

From F-Secure on the msnsc.exe file

No malicious code found in the attached file.

It is a shortcut creator utility for MSN Messenger

Does that sound familiar?

Yes it does. When I installed IE7 a couple of months ago, messenger got installed at the same time. I had previously disabled it. I thought I'd got rid of it but a few days ago I update IE7 and it must of reinstalled or updated it.

Teddy

P.S.
Have deleted all files from previous scan results.

Yes pc still fine. B4 I continue, I'd just like to thank for all your help from the heart of my bo.......sorry, bottom of my heart. It's running how it should do now, albeit a little slower than b4, but this is negligable. As for IE7 your right it is more stable and more user friendly than IE6. I have just installed IE7 Final Gold. And I must say it's an improvement on the beta versions and very stable.

I have just increased drive C:/ by another 20gb ready for the upgrade to Windows Vista RC1. Although RC2 is out, it only recognises 1 or 2 audio cards. So if you have anything like Cmedia or Realtek or other lesser known make your stuck without sound. I also have it on reliable a source that were as XP is 5/10 Vista is 11/10. I should be upgrading next week sometime. When the software arrives through the post.

If there's any software you like testing or want to know about then I'd be only too pleased to help. I'm retired from work because I'm disabled, and spend 24/7 infront of the computer. There isn't alot of software I haven't come accross.

About the only thing I test is Malware!

Im not one to do much upgrading,I just use and abuse then throw into the stack of malware machines I use for testing. :whistling:

    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:

Hiya, it's that man again. Right here we go again. Report for kapersky scan. I have NOT deleted anything on C:/, Coz it's all locked, or on any other drive that pertains to SystemVolumeInformation. Everything else is removed including the recycler. Drives O:/ P:/ Q:/ R:/ are empty or virtually empty due to me having a spring clean.

As far as whats on L drive and below,Ill leave that up to you.

Better get rid of these though.

C:\WINDOWS\Temp\tmp00007555

F:\Ashampoo\Ashampoo Burning Studio 6\crack.exe

Once you get all the items cleared up,be sure to empty the recycle bin.

Look like you still have alot of loose objects on various drives and folders.

Here is a scanner I have not used in a very long time and had forgot it even existed.
http://us.mcafee.com...lt.asp?cid=9435

If you wanna check it out,Mcafee has some really sharp heuristic detections.

Ok not to worry. I ran Mcafee and it found nothing, at last. The system Volume Information refers to system restore. So I'll have to reset it when I'm done here. Some of the info it would need is no longer on the sytem.

Morning your worshipfulness. PC acting super fine today. No problems to speak of. Worked out that the problem I had with WinAvi was to do with a Codec, just got to fined out which one.

Couple of tips for you, for what it's worth. Found these programs on my web travels and I wish I'd found them earlier. They beat the other ones hands down.

http://www.disktrix.com/ultimatedefrag/ultimatedefrag.htm Got to be the best defrager in the world. Worth every penny.

http://pmdevigne.home.dyndns.org/ Taskbar activate. Freeware. Stops it playing up and not disappearing when it should.

If these help you at all then I'm pleased. If they don't then I appologise.

Once again thanx for all your help. If you ever need anything just let me know. That is of course unless there's anything else you'd like me to do.

I am at the moment Defraging the drives.

Teddy

P.S.
Dr Watson playiong up but it not a problem just annoying.

    You can download IE-SPYAD here
A tutorial can be found here
  • Hosts File
A Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad, spyware sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
A tutorial tutorial can be found here
  • MVPS Hosts File
You can download the MVPS Hosts File here
Furthermore the website contains useful tips and links to other resources and utilities.

  • Dialers
Security against all kinds of dialers. No fear when receiving the next phone bill.
  • Trojans and Keyloggers

Use an AntiVirus Software

It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. See the link below for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs.
Computer Safety On line - Anti-Virus
http://forum.malware...pic.php?p=53#53

Update your Anti Virus Software

It is imperative that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

Use a Firewall

I can not stress enough how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. For an article on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below.
